Some music librarians are members of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees and other unions. The Music Library Association (which has a Music Library Student and Emerging Professionals Interest Group), American Library Association, and the Special Libraries Association are the leading organizations for librarians and library paraprofessionals in the United States. Other helpful organizations for music librarians include the American Musicological Society and the Society for Ethnomusicology.
