Unions and Associations
Some fishers belong to the Seafarers International Union, Deep Sea Fishermen's Union of the Pacific, and other unions. Union members receive pensions, health and welfare benefits, and liberal disability benefits if they are injured while working on a vessel. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NOAA Fisheries provides information on commercial fishing.
