The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and other unions represent museum workers. Museum technicians are not members of unions, but they can join the American Alliance of Museums, the largest service and advocacy organization for the museum field. It offers career information, publications, continuing education, publications, and networking opportunities. The International Planetarium Society is a membership organization for anyone interested in planetariums. It offers publications, continuing education opportunities, and other resources. State-level and regional museums—such as the Michigan Museums Association, Illinois Association of Museums, Association of Midwest Museums, and the New England Museum Association—also provide many useful resources. The International Council of Museums offers continuing education opportunities and other resources.
