Grant Coordinators and Writers

Overview

Grant coordinators manage all grant-funded programs for nonprofit organizations. Grant writers create proposals to potential funders. In smaller organizations, both jobs may be handled by the same person. Both grant coordinators and grant writers may work for schools, local governments, social service agencies, and other organizations to oversee all aspects of grant funding. The Association of Fundraising Professionals reports that it has more than 30,000 members employed at a variety of nonprofit organizations, including those in the arts, social service, health care, and educational fields, as well as at private consulting firms around the country.
