Conflict resolution specialists are neutral parties who resolve or facilitate the resolution of legal, professional, or personal conflict in non-judicial settings. Some hear and decide disputes between two or more opposing parties, while others do not render a decision but instead work with the parties to help them reach a compromise to settle their dispute. Specialties in the field include arbitrators, mediators, conciliators, and ombudsmen. Conflict resolution specialists are also known as alternative dispute resolution specialists, dispute resolution specialists, and neutrals.
