Reusable Spacecraft System Designers and Engineers

Experience, Skills, and Personality Traits

In addition to earning a college degree (or completing an apprenticeship), aspiring engineers and designers should obtain as much experience in the field as possible by participating in internships, fellowships, and part-time jobs at aerospace companies and agencies.

To be successful in their work, designers and engineers must have strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills. They also must be self-motivated, be detailed oriented, and have good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Other important traits include creativity, curiosity, ingenuity, and strong visualization skills.
