Crime Analysts

Earnings

Earnings for crime analysts vary considerably, based on factors such as the location, the size of the employing agency and its financial status, and the analyst's experience. The employment Web site ZipRecruiter.com reports that salaries for crime analysts in 2024 ranged from $33,000 to $101,500, with median average salaries of about $65,006.

Most crime analysts are civilians, but others are police officers in temporary or permanent assignments. Police and detectives earned salaries that ranged from $45,790 to $117,100 or more in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. They earned median salaries of $74,910.

Analysts receive the same benefits as others working in the same agency. These usually include paid vacation time, sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
