Family and Consumer Scientists

Family and consumer scientists who work as teachers for school systems and colleges and universities may be members of unions such as the American Federation of Teachers (http://www.aft.org) and National Education Association (http://www.nea.org). The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences is the major association for family and consumer scientists. It accredits undergraduate family and consumer science programs, offers certification, and provides a variety of information on careers at its Web site. The National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences and the Family & Consumer Sciences Educators also provide education, events, publications, and other helpful resources for family and consumer scientists.
