Ten percent of all firefighters earned less than $12.10 per hour (or 25,170 annually), while the top 10 percent earned more than $42.75 per hour (or $88,920 annually). The department also reports that firefighters employed by local government earned a mean hourly wage of $26.07 (or $54,230 annually); those employed by the federal government earned a mean hourly wage of $25.38 (or $52,780 annually).
