Most firefighters join the International Association of Fire Fighters (AFL-CIO). The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress accredits certification and postsecondary degree programs. Other useful organizations for firefighters include the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Fire Protection Association. Women in Fire is a membership organization for female fire professionals (although men can also join) in the United States, Canada, and other countries.
