Investment Banking Analysts

Outlook

Job opportunities should be good for investment banking analysts, although competition for jobs is fierce. In its Salary Guide 2025, Robert Half International indicated that, in the financial services field, financial institutions are focused on business growth and integrating new technology into their operations, but they continue to face serious talent shortages. Candidates with experience in data analytics and tech systems will be in demand in the coming years. Companies will be looking for professionals with strong skills in artificial intelligence, automation, and other technological systems.

Job opportunities will also be good for financial analysts outside the investment banking industry. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment for financial analysts will grow by 9 percent through 2033, much faster than the average for all careers. According to the DOL, "Demand for financial analysts generally increases with overall economic activity. These workers will be needed to evaluate investment opportunities when new businesses are established, or as exiting businesses expand." Analysts will be needed with expertise in geographic regions where new markets are emerging.
