Investment Banking Sales Brokers

Unions and Associations

Investment banking sales bankers are not members of unions. Some join the National Business Development Association. Membership benefits include access to the organization’s online membership directory, complimentary attendance at workshops, and discounts on other programs. The Sales Education Foundation is another good resource. At its Web site, the foundation provides a list of colleges and universities that offer degrees in sales, information on sales competitions for students, and a wealth of resources for students who are interested in majoring in sales. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association is a trade organization for broker-dealers, banks, and asset managers. The Futures Industry Association bills itself as the “the leading global trade organization for the futures, options and centrally cleared derivatives markets, with offices in Brussels, London, Singapore and Washington, D.C.” Its membership includes exchanges, clearinghouses, trading firms, clearing firms, and commodities specialists from more than 50 countries. The CFA Institute awards the chartered financial analyst credential and provides continuing education opportunities. Other useful organizations include the National Association of Sales Professionals, Sales Management Association, CMT Association, and the National Futures Association.
