Opportunities will be good for experienced, highly skilled portfolio managers who continuously generate strong returns for the fund(s) they manage. Employment for financial analysts (including portfolio managers) who work for firms that oversee funds, trusts, and other financial vehicles is expected to grow by 14.7 percent from 2023 through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). This is much faster than the average for all careers. The DOL reports that “financial analysts also will be needed to assess growing volumes of data. In addition, emerging markets throughout the world are providing new investment opportunities, requiring expertise in geographic regions where those markets are located."
