Unions and Associations
Union membership is more common at publicly operated zoos, but zookeepers may be unionized at privately run institutions as well. There is no single zookeepers' union, and a variety of different unions represent the employees at various zoos and aquariums. Some zookeepers join the American Association of Zoo Keepers and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which provide networking opportunities, publications, career information, continuing education classes, job listings, and other resources.
