Employment for food batchmakers in sugar and confectionery product manufacturing is expected to increase by 5.4 percent from 2023 to 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. This is faster than the average for all careers. Demand for confectionery goods remains strong, which has created new employment opportunities. Mordor Intelligence predicts that the global candy market will grow from an estimated $69.20 billion in 2024 to $83.46 billion by 2029—increasing at a compound annual growth rate of 3.82 percent from 2024–2029.
With that said, increasing automation may limit job growth in the long term. Some new opportunities will emerge for small-scale candy makers who operate their own small businesses.
