The majority of marketing specialists work about 40 hours a week, although overtime may be necessary in order to meet project deadlines. The work atmosphere can be exciting, but sometimes stressful when deadlines loom or when there is disagreement about marketing strategies. Marketing specialists also spend time working alone writing press releases and reports, updating their firm’s social media pages, and performing other duties. At a large firm, a marketing manager will be assisted by a team of marketing specialists, associates, and interns, while, at smaller firms, there may just be a chief marketing officer to handle a wide range of marketing-related duties.
