Airplane Dispatchers

The majority of airplane dispatchers work for large airlines. Although some private firms and smaller airlines also hire airplane dispatchers, the number of jobs available for them could be a lot higher. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, airplane dispatchers have little to no expected job growth. However, the Department notes that an improving economy and population growth could lead to increased air travel, creating more job opportunities for dispatchers. In the upcoming years, air traffic is anticipated to likely increase, which may lead to a slight rise in the demand for airplane dispatchers.

Nonetheless, the use of advanced technology and centralization of dispatch offices means that fewer dispatchers will be needed to handle more work. A single dispatcher can cover a larger area than previously possible, thanks to enhanced communication equipment. Due to the limited number of jobs in this field, there are no positive signs for its employment outlook.

The aviation industry presents a promising career outlook, particularly for ex-military pilots and aircraft dispatchers who graduated from FAA-accredited schools like Sheffield. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts that air traffic will increase in proportion to the growth of the population and economy. This increase in air traffic will result in more job openings throughout the industry, ranging from top to bottom. The demand for qualified personnel is high, but commercial airlines require individuals with the proper education, training, and skill set.
