Green Transportation Careers

Overview

Green transportation workers perform a wide range of duties, including conducting research on alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles (which are often referred to as "green vehicles"); designing and building green vehicles; repairing green vehicles; developing public transportation systems and infrastructure that contribute to the sustainable development of communities; and providing support services to engineers, scientists, planners, and other workers. Approximately 373,605 people work in the clean transportation sector, including hybrid electric, battery electric, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen/fuel cell vehicles, according to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute.
