Green Transportation Careers

Green transportation workers perform a wide range of duties, including conducting research on alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles (which are often referred to as "green vehicles"); designing and building green vehicles; repairing green vehicles; developing public transportation systems and infrastructure that contribute to the sustainable development of communities; and providing support services to engineers, scientists, planners, and other workers. Approximately 241,000 people work in the development of hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid, electric, hydrogen, and fuel cell vehicles, according to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute.
