Camera Operators

Unions and Associations

There are several associations and guilds that represent the interests of camera operators who work in the broad field that includes television, motion pictures, online content, live entertainment, animation, and special effects. The International Cinematographers Guild offers training, job information, resources, and news to its members. The National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) is a branch of the Communication Workers of America. The American Association of Cinematographers (ASC) is a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing the art of filmmaking. The ASC maintains Cinematographer.com, a Web site that contains a special forum for students and first-time filmmakers, as well as forums on camera operating, camera assistants, books on the trade, and general discussions of the job.
