Curriculum Coordinators

Work Environment

Curriculum coordinators work in offices in schools, educational centers, and government buildings. They typically work 40 hours per week during business hours. Depending on the job, there may be some travel involved, such as to visit other schools in their district to discuss new curricula. They also travel to educational conferences. Unlike teachers, curriculum coordinators work year round.

The job can be rewarding when curriculum coordinators' recommendations are well received and students' performance improves. On the other side, not all teachers, education professionals, and members of the public welcome coordinators' input and may be defensive or resistant to new curricula or revisions to current curricula. Stressors may also arise from limited school budgets and continual changes in education policies and standards.
