Distance learning coordinators communicate regularly with the school's faculty, staff, and students. They help develop distance learning programs, oversee the distance learning staff, assess educational goals and needs, and teach distance learning staff and instructors the course management software and other tools and processes involved in distance education. There are about 181,600 instructional coordinators, including distance learning coordinators, employed in the United States.
