Policy Analysts

Unions and Associations

Policy analysts do not typically belong to unions, although those who are employed as professors may be represented by the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Many professional associations provide useful resources to policy analysts. For example, the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management offers membership options for college students and practicing analysts, publishes the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management and other resources, and provides extensive information about education and careers at its Web site. The American Political Science Association offers membership for political scientists in all fields and publishes a variety of journals including the American Political Science Review. It also provides career and education information at its Web site. Other noteworthy organizations include the American Economic Association, International Public Policy Association, and the Society of Government Economists.
