High School

A well-rounded education is a good foundation for recycling and reclamation jobs. Take classes in science, math, history, and English. Computer classes are useful. Shop classes are also helpful as some jobs require skills with tools and machinery.

Postsecondary Training

A high school diploma is the minimum requirement for recycling and reclamation workers. An associate's or bachelor's degree, however, can help workers advance to more administrative roles, such as recycling coordinator or supervisor. Degrees may be in business, administration, environmental science, waste management, or a related field.
