Some wildland firefighter local unions (such as the Professional Wildland Fire Fighters Local I-96) are affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (AFL-CIO). The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress accredits certification and postsecondary degree programs. The Federal Wildland Fire Service Association is an employee association that seeks to improve pay, benefits, and working conditions for its members. Other useful organizations for wildland firefighters (and firefighters in general) include the International Association of Wildland Fire and the National Fire Protection Association. Women in Fire is a membership organization for female fire professionals (although men can also join) in the United States, Canada, and other countries.
