Overview

Landscapers maintain gardens, parks, lawns, and other landscaped areas as well as the trees, plants, and shrubs that are part of these areas. Specific job responsibilities depend on the type of area involved. Landscapers work on projects at private homes, parks, schools, arboretums, office parks, shopping malls, government offices, botanical gardens, and hotels and motels. They may also responsible for purchasing material and supplies and for training, directing, and supervising employees. There are more than 1.3 million grounds maintenance workers in the United States.
