Unions and Associations
The American Federation of Teachers and the United Federation of Teachers are unions that negotiate for better wages and working conditions for teachers. Adapted physical education specialists also have access to workshops, conferences, networking events, and other resources offered by associations such as the National Association of Special Education Teachers, SHAPE America, the Society of Health and Physical Educators, and the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities.
