Beverage Industry Workers

Outlook

The global beverage marketplace was valued at $1.64 trillion in 2022 and was expected to reach $2.21 trillion by 2029, according to the data analytics and intelligence firm Research and Markets, which forecasts 4.3 percent compound annual growth for the industry from 2024 through 2029. Revenue in the U.S. liquid refreshment beverage market grew to $246.4 billion in 2023— an increase of 7.5 percent from 2022, according to Beverage Marketing Corporation, a research group.

Non-alcoholic liquid refreshments remain extremely popular with American consumers. As long as people are thirsty, there should be job opportunities in this field. Many companies are "reshoring," meaning they are bringing outsourced personnel and services back to the United States; some are moving jobs to lower cost regions in the United States rather than to other countries. This may create more opportunities for beverage industry workers.

Employment of industrial production managers who work in beverage manufacturing will increase by 13 percent from 2022 through 2032, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Production managers with bachelor's degrees in industrial management or business administration, who are familiar with cutting-edge beverage production technology, and who have industry experience will have the best chances of securing top jobs. Employment for sales managers in beverage manufacturing, as well as food processing workers-not otherwise classified, will also increase by 13 percent during this time span. Again, those with advanced education and experience will have the best job prospects.
