According to the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) Occupational Outlook Handbook, overall employment of career and technical education teachers is expected to show little or no change through 2028. While teachers will continue to be needed to help prepare students for technical careers, the DOL reports that job opportunities will be better at secondary schools, where slower than average growth is expected, compared to post-secondary schools, where employment is expected to decline. However, retirement of current faculty members will provide job openings.
