Little or no employment change is expected for career and technical education teachers from 2022 through 2032, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Middle and high school students continue to be required to complete more academic and fewer career and technical classes, which has slowed demand for these educators. In addition, employment growth of all teachers, particularly those of automotive technology education teachers working in public schools, will depend on precarious government funding for career and technical programs. However, the DOL reports that "some demand for these workers is expected over the projections decade due to continued interest in career and technical education programs in middle schools, high schools, and postsecondary institutions."
