Cancer Registrars

Overview

Cancer registrars are responsible for collecting, compiling, and reporting full histories of cancer patients in a specific population, usually a hospital, or geographic area such as a state or country. To do so, the cancer registrar identifies, records, and maintains data regarding the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and the status of individuals with cancer (tumors). Cancer registrars provide information for cancer registries which track individual patients from the time of diagnoses, with lifetime follow-up, in order to create data that can be analyzed to track treatment, as well as survival and outcome information, with the goal of preventing or successfully treating cancers.
