Cancer registrar positions are most often located in offices in hospitals and health care facilities, or in state, federal or regional registry offices. However, as some data collection is required, there is some opportunity for “in the field” interviews to obtain initial or follow-up information. Additionally, there are some limited opportunities to perform data processing work from home rather than in an office environment.
By the nature of the job, cancer registrars must gather information from patients who have cancer and are ill. This is difficult for some people.
