Video editors who are employed by television networks and local television news stations can seek union representation by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians. Those who work in the film industry often join the Motion Picture Editors Guild. American Cinema Editors and Motion Picture Sound Editors are the major professional membership organizations for film and television editors. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences provides scholarships and recognizes excellence in editing via the Emmy Awards.
