Because of the wide range of jobs available to technicians, average hourly wages vary. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, in May 2018 landscaping and groundskeeping workers earned an average of $13.94 an hour (approximately $29,000 annually for full-time work), with the lowest 10 percent earning $9.98 an hour (or $20,760 annually) and the highest 10 percent earning more than $21.47 an hour (or $44,670 annually). Fringe benefits vary from employer to employer, but generally include hospitalization and other insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and educational assistance. Self-employed workers, however, have to arrange for their own benefits.
