Space Meteorologist

Overview

Space meteorologists study the Sun and the space environment, to better understand weather that may affect Earth, and to create simulations and predictive models. They gather and analyze data about the weather and events in space by using satellites, radar, and high-speed computers. This is a small field. According to the Department of Labor, there are 9,900 atmospheric scientists, including space meteorologists, employed in the United States.
