Space meteorologists who work in broadcasting may belong to the labor union SAG-AFTRA, which represents the professional interests of performers in television, radio, recording, and motion pictures. They may belong to the American Geophysical Union, which provides industry standards, education, and networking opportunities.

The American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association offer education and training programs, research and publications, career development resources, and networking opportunities. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration conducts research, testing, and development on space science and space exploration. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a federal government agency that studies and predicts changes in the environment and provides information for marine and coastal resource management. The National Weather Service is a component of NOAA that provides weather, water, and climate forecasts.
