Nanotechnicians

Work Environment

Employment settings for nanotechicians vary by industry. Those who are employed by semiconductor manufacturers often work in large cleanrooms that have special filtration systems which require strict temperature-and humidity-control systems. Technicians in this setting must wear special suits called “bunny suits” that prevent contamination of the work environment. Nanotechnicians may also work in offices and laboratories, while others work in factories, where the work environment can be noisy and hectic. Nanotechnicians typically work a standard 40-hour week. They may be required to work at night and on weekends to meet project deadlines.
