The coronavirus pandemic has caused a decline in solar industry growth in 2020. The industry is expected to rebound, however, once the economy stabilizes and the pandemic comes to an end. Solar thermal installers and technicians will continue to find good employment opportunities in the coming years. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, "solar energy in the United States is booming." The cost to install solar equipment has dropped by more than 70 percent since 2010, which has been leading to the expansion of solar energy in new markets. As of 2019, there were more than 2 million solar installations in the United States, and that number is expected to reach 4 million by 2023.
