Build your e-sports gaming skills by watching and/or playing in as many e-sports competitions as possible. Join high school and college gaming clubs. Work as a volunteer on the coaching staff of a local e-sports team to obtain experience.
Talk with an e-sports coach about his or her career. Ask your school counselor to help arrange an interview. Suggested interview questions include: What made you want to enter this career? What are some of the biggest challenges and rewards of being a coach? What are some key skills for success? What advice would you give to young people about preparing for the field and being successful on the job? Perhaps you could even job-shadow an e-sports coach to learn more about the field.
