Utility line workers and other workers who are union members generally have their pay rates set according to agreements between the union and their employer. The agreements cover many factors, such as wage increases and pay rates for different categories of overtime work. Overtime pay can add significantly to base salary. In addition to their regular earnings, these workers receive benefits such as paid vacation time, pension plans, and life and health insurance.
