Many energy transmission and distribution workers are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers or other unions. The American Public Power Association is a membership organization for public power utilities. The Edison Electric Institute is an association of U.S. shareholder-owned electric companies. The Center for Energy Workforce Development is a nonprofit consortium of electric natural gas and nuclear utilities and their associations that seeks to address worker shortages in the utility industry. The Nuclear Energy Institute advocates for the use of nuclear energy and nuclear technology. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation provides certification to power distributors and dispatchers whose work may affect the power grid.
