Unions and Associations

Food technologists are not represented by unions. The Institute of Food Technologists is the major professional organization for food scientists. It accredits undergraduate food science and technology programs, offers a wealth of career information on its Web site, and provides membership for college students and current professionals. The Research Chefs Association offers certification. Other useful organizations for food technologists include the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, Society of Flavor Chemists, and the Consumer Brands Association.
