Genetic Genealogists

Unions and Associations

Genetic genealogists are not members of unions, but they can join professional associations that offer continuing education opportunities, publications, networking events, conferences, and other resources. Membership organizations for genealogists include the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy, National Genealogical Society (which has a Committee on Genetic Genealogy), and the Association of Professional Genealogists (which has a Forensic Genealogy Special Interest Group). The Board for Certification of Genealogists, International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists, and the Genealogical Institute of the Maritimes provide voluntary certification.
