Hedge fund investor relations specialists don’t belong to unions, but those in the United States can join the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI). Members receive IR Update, NIRI’s flagship monthly magazine; access to a sample document library (e.g., guidance for corporate disclosure, model job descriptions, and sample investor relations plans); free webinars; discounts on seminars, conferences, and webinars; and access to eGroups, NIRI’s private social networking forum for members. The Canadian Investor Relations Institute is a membership organization for IR professionals in Canada. It hosts an annual conference, provides a mentoring program, and offers certification. The Managed Funds Association represents the interests of the global alternative investment industry. The Association of Women in Alternative Investing and 100 Women in Finance are advocacy organizations for women in the hedge fund and other alternative investment sectors. They provide networking events, job listings, and other resources for members.
