Horticultural Inspectors

Outlook

Employment for agricultural inspectors is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all careers through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Federal and state governments are not planning to hire a significant number of new inspectors within the next few years, but there will be a need to replace inspectors who retire or leave the field for other reasons. However, the threat of agroterrorism and bioterrorism and recent national outbreaks of food poisoning (which have increased the public’s concern for safe food products) will create demand for workers in this profession.
