Hotel Concierges

Advancement Prospects

There are many opportunities for concierges who want to advance to other hotel departments. Because a concierge's duties are very people-oriented, similar positions, such as front desk manager, should be considered. A concierge who has a degree in hotel management or business, and extensive work experience, as well as superior management skills, could vie for the position of general manager.

The extremely ambitious can also start their own concierge businesses. Personal concierges are personal assistants to those too busy to organize their homes or run errands. For a fixed price, known as a retainer, personal concierges are responsible for a set of weekly duties; they charge extra for special requests, such as planning dinner parties or buying Christmas gifts.
