Investment Underwriters

Outlook

Companies will continue to need investment underwriters to analyze their financial operations, help raise capital by securing investors, and managing and negotiating business deals such as mergers and acquisitions. The outlook for financial professionals ranges from average to much faster than average employment growth, depending upon the specialty. The Department of Labor (DOL) forecasts that financial analysts will have average employment growth and financial managers will have much faster than average employment growth through 2028. The areas of specialty that will be in high demand will be risk management and cash management. Overall, employment of financial specialists (all others not listed) is expected to grow by 4–6 through 2028. Competition for investment underwriter jobs will be keen. Those with a bachelor's degree, several years of work experience, and up-to-date knowledge of financial analysis software programs will have good job prospects.
