Investment Underwriters

Outlook

Companies will continue to need investment underwriters to analyze their financial operations, help raise capital by securing investors, and managing and negotiating business deals such as mergers and acquisitions. The outlook for financial professionals ranges from average to much faster than average employment growth, depending upon the specialty. The Department of Labor (DOL) forecasts that financial analysts will have much faster than average employment growth (9 percent) and financial managers will have much faster than average employment growth (17 percent) through 2033. The areas of specialty that will be in high demand will be risk management and cash management. Overall, the DOL predicts that business and financial occupations will grow faster than the average in the coming years. Competition for investment underwriter jobs will be keen. Those with a bachelor's degree, several years of work experience, and up-to-date knowledge of financial analysis software programs will have good job prospects.
