According to the U.S. Department of Labor, median hourly earnings of tile and marble setters were $20.12 (or $41,840 annually) in May 2018. Earnings of tile, terrazzo, and marble setters vary by union membership and geographic location. The highest wages are paid in urban areas. Apprentices start at about 50 percent of the skilled worker's salary and increase periodically up to 95 percent during the final stage of the training. Many opportunities are available for overtime work, which usually pays time-and-a-half, or one-and-a-half times the regular wage. Most workers are union members and are thus eligible for the following benefits: retirement plans, hospital and life insurance, and paid holidays and vacations.
