Overview

Construction managers oversee the planning and building of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. They may be self-employed or salaried employees for large construction firms and real estate developers. Others may contract their services on a project-by-project basis. There are approximately 471,800 construction managers employed in the United States. Construction managers are also known as construction foremen, supervisors, contractors, project managers, constructors, construction superintendents, project engineers, and general contractors.
