Product Owners

Overview

Product owners are key members of software development teams that use the Agile methodology, an iterative approach to project management. Scrum is the most-popular development process (or framework) within the Agile methodology. It is a “lightweight framework that helps people, teams, and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems,” according to the Scrum Guide: The Definitive Guide to Scrum-The Rules of the Game, which was written by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland—the co-developers of Scrum. Product owners work to maximize the quality of the product created by the Scrum team by managing the product backlog and performing other duties that vary by employer. They also be known as product champions, product directors, and value managers.
