Construction Managers

Outlook

Employment of construction managers is projected to grow 10 percent (faster than the average for all careers) from 2018 to 2028,according to the U.S. Department of Labor. A shortage of qualified workers; the growing complexity and number of construction projects; increasing demand for energy-efficient retrofitting of existing buildings; the need to improve roads, bridges, and sewer pipe systems; and the need for better cost management of construction projects have spurred strong demand for construction managers—especially those with experience and bachelor's or higher degrees in construction science, construction management, or civil engineering.
