The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the median annual salary for elementary school teachers was $59,670 in May 2019. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $39,020; the highest paid 10 percent earned $97,900 or more. Middle school teachers earned median salaries of $59,660 with the lowest 10 percent earning $39,990 or less and the highest 10 percent earning $96,280 or more. Secondary school teachers had median earnings of $61,660. Ten percent earned $40,540 or less, and 10 percent earned $99,660 or more annually.
